Southfield, Michigan (a Detroit suburb) has installed composting drop boxes throughout the city. The boxes are similar in size to trash bins commonly seen on the sidewalks and in parks of U.S. towns and cities. Residents can drop all food scraps into these boxes – even meat and dairy, which are discouraged in home composting bins. This short video explains the initiative.
