Ahead of the COP30 summit (November 10, 2025), there are 31 nations that have incorporated food loss and waste reduction into their climate strategies. While this number is growing, many prominent NGOs argue that more countries need to include waste reduction goals in their national climate commitments, as food waste constitutes a significant portion of global greenhouse gas emissions. Addressing food waste could provide rapid benefits to planetary health and food security.
