The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy (EGLE) is funding innovative programs like NextCycle Michigan to reduce food waste, such as robot pickup services that collect restaurant food waste and organizations like Metro Food Rescue that redistribute unused food to those in need. These initiatives aim to create a circular economy by keeping food waste out of landfills, while addressing widespread hunger.
